Trained through the UC Davis winemaking program, Tal works vine to bottle: farming, fermentation, barrel, blend. Alpha Vineyards is the result, a small-lot label with one foot in each hemisphere. Made slowly, poured generously.
Sonoma, California
Bold and unapologetic. Blackberry and dark plum crowd the glass, cracked black pepper rides over the top, and a thread of smoked violet carries a long, savory finish.
Grown on cool Sonoma slopes where the fog burns off late and the fruit takes its time.
Yarra Valley, Australia
Elegant and quietly persuasive. Bright red cherry and wild strawberry up front, then forest floor and a soft earthy hum, all wrapped in a texture like brushed silk.
The southern-hemisphere counterpoint, picked in the cool Yarra autumn while Sonoma sleeps.
